Knee surgery?!

So it has been already 10 days since my knee surgery & luckily by now I feel great & I am so waiting the day when I don’t have to walk around with crutches anymore and when I can once again do sports, go dancing and do everything else I want to! 😍 Here is my long story short about the struggles on the way which ended fairly! ✨

My knee surgery took place on 29th of May in Ida-Tallinna Keskhaigla and I my knee surgery was done by Dr.Taavi HΓ΅randi from Ortopeedia Arstid. πŸ™ Surgery itself went well and smoothly, and took about an hour or less and I got home already the same day.

But how it all began?

If I think back of all the struggle then right now it feels so funny πŸ˜… but it wasn’t funny at all then of course.. πŸ˜€

It started already in February when I had a minor accident after what my knee was swollen and hurt couple of days. It went little bit better but then one day when I leaned on my knees there was loud cracking sound. Which was so painful..

As it was evening I decided to call the helpline - 1220, before rushing into Emergency Medicine Centre.

There I was told to put on some ice and make the good old-fashioned vodka compress * of course young doctors later just shook their heads on that recommendation* πŸ˜€ and to go to emergency when it is still swollen and hurtful after 2 days. So I went to Emergency Medicine Centre after 2 days. And of course I found myself there many times.. πŸ˜’

At first I just walked out there with new painkillers prescription, as from observation “it didn’t seem to be anything serious” in their opinion… But painkillers weren’t helping.. (well, ok the nurse said the next time that – “Oh, no problem if they are not helping, you can take them how many you want, per day!!!!” Like seriously??? πŸ˜’πŸ˜³)

And I was shortly back again…

Then I had more reasonable doctor, who was specialised on knee orthopaedic. She sent me to take the X-ray to see what’s going on there and to exclude small bone injuries. And then I was told to buy orthosis to support my knee. Later found out that the X-ray was fine so I was asked to go back and take the Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

So I went back again πŸ™‚

.. and told them that I was called back to take MRI. And the people who were working that day were all like, “Umm, there is no possibility to do MRI in Emergency Medicine Centre”.
But as the doctor told me they have the possibility then I said that okay, I will be sitting here and waiting until you find out where, how and when I can do the MRI..

After couple of hours..

I was asked to go to the other Emergency point, which was hell of a wasting my time. As they said that it has always been previous emergency point possibility! πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

So I was back!!!! πŸ˜… And I was waiting again long hours over there. And finally! they said that “Yes, we will put you on the line *as it was COVID-19* and the doctor will let you know when and where you have to go”. And then on the April 3rd I had the MRI! ✌🏻

So the week passed by and the same story – doctor called me and said “Oh everything is fine, you are a young person, try to live with it, it will eventually go better.” πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ I was like “Are you kidding me????” As for me it was pretty rough time, I couldn’t walk over 2 km, I couldn’t run.. So for me it was physically and mentally very hard time.

Another opinion maybe?

So after then I went to Ortopeedia Arstid for second opinion. And I was so lucky when I got the chance to get an appointment to one of the best orthopaedic surgeon in Estonia. I got the appointment for Mihkel Mardna MD, on 14th of May! πŸ™ŒπŸ»

And the problem was solved, I had runners knee. Which was caused by Synovial Plica Syndrome. And MD Mardna said that the inflammation on that knee is so obviously seen on the MRI and it wether needs urgent surgery or injection. *Therefore MD said that, the injection is only short-term solution and he actually doesn’t recommend that to young people*.

So there I was, on the morning of 29th of June, having my knee surgery. And now on Monday I will go to take out the threads and then I have Magnet Therapy, Aquatic Therapy and rehabilitation til August and then I should me fully recovered! 😍

I am so thankful for the best doctors in Ortopeedia Arstid! Thank you for taking my problem seriously and instead of sending me back home “to try to live with the pain” they found the real reason and soon I am able to enjoy life to the fullest again! ✨

Congrats if you finished the whole story πŸ˜€βœŒπŸ»

Let’s get that knee fixed! πŸ’ͺ🏻
