When a place has been your home for almost all of your life, then it is so weird to say that I will have a vacation over there.. 😅 But as we haven’t lived in Estonia for already 8 months (wow, okay, it already seems a long time 🤔), then it feels to be the right thing to say.. 🥲
This weekend was all about hanging out with my best friends, chill out & little bit party! 🐞 So our weekend already started on Thursday, when we traveled to my hometown – Kuressaare to visit GinFest, and then on Sunday, we had a camp party in Pärnu, where we finished our nice getaway, #puhkaEestis.
Midsummer or St. John’s Day, Jaanipäev as it is known in Estonia, is one of the oldest local celebrations. Late June is the perfect time for a holiday in the blooming nature where days extend into nights, with barely any darkness in sight.
For us, Estonians, Midsummer is pretty important. It is the longest day of the year & it has been celebrated for a very long time with different traditions. Most common ones are probably that young lovers wander through the forest looking for a lucky fern flower said to bloom only this night. And that if you find the glowworm, you may expect a great fortune! 🔮
This blog post will take me back – again – to Saaremaa (as couple of weeks ago) & to one of my first times staying in hotel in my home town.. 😀 We decided to stay in Johan Spa Hotel, as they have sauna & outdoor swimming pool. And of course they are totally in the centre of Kuressaare and the price was good. ✌🏻
“Fuckin’ corona sa ajad mind jooma, corona, corona, corona!” 🙄
(In translation – “Fuckin’ corona you make me wanna drink, corona, corona, corona!” – listen here! // Virtual greetings to my awesome and talented friends Mariliis & Ollie! 😍 //)
As you might think then almost for three months no traveling at all. Nothing. No where. Only bedroom, bathroom, kitchen.. Quarantine routine much, eh. Well, alright of course some strolling around the forests has been made, but that’s kinda all..
BUT at least I managed to finally go to my home island, Saaremaa, last week, to visit my family. Wohoo! 🥳 🙌
